5x8 rugs are a go-to choice for smaller spaces and high-traffic zones. Measuring 5 feet by 8 feet, this size is commonly used as an accent rug in entryways, kitchens, bathrooms, and bedside areas where you want comfort and style without covering the entire floor.

In apartments and compact rooms, a 5x8 area rug can also help define a small seating moment—like a chair and side table—while adding texture and color to the space.

Atlanta Designer Rugs offers a curated selection of 5x8 area rugs from brands and artisans around the world. Shop by size to quickly find the right fit, then refine by style, material, and color to match your space.

Frequently Asked Questions About 5x8 Rugs

Q: What are the dimensions of a 5x8 rug in feet?
A: A 5x8 rug measures 5 feet wide by 8 feet long.

Q: What rooms are best for 5x8 rugs?
A: This size works well in entryways, kitchens, bathrooms, and bedside areas.

Q: How should furniture sit on a 5x8 rug?
A: A common approach is to place at least the front legs of seating (or dining chairs) on the rug to visually anchor the layout.

Q: Should I leave floor space showing around the edges?
A: Yes—leaving a border of exposed floor helps the rug look proportional and keeps the room from feeling crowded.

A: A rug pad can help reduce slipping, add cushioning, and protect both the rug and your floors.
